COVID-19 Updates

We’re still open and ready to serve

At Families Matter Food Pantry, our top priority is ensuring a safe and secure environment for our staff, volunteers, and those we serve—especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the practices we’ve put in place, we’ve been able to remain open and provide food to all of the amazing communities we support. Thank you for your continued trust in The Pantry.

Distribution times

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been able to retain our normal distribution times. Mondays from 1 – 2 pm continue to be for Veterans only. For all other visitors, we distribute Tuesdays from 5 – 6 pm and Thursdays from 1 – 2 pm.

If our hours change, we’ll update them here and on our contact page for you to see. To register for and learn more about our food distribution, please see our distribution details page.

What we’re doing

  • We’re washing our hands often, as well as using hand sanitizer stations throughout the day
  • We’re practicing social distancing
  • If our employees or board members are feeling ill, they’ve been instructed to stay at home and away from others
  • We’re cleaning frequently used objects such as counters, shared pens, volunteer stations, handles on carts, bathroom door handles, and doorknobs/handles
  • To control the number of people entering The Pantry, we’ve created external drop box locations for those donating food
  • We’re also placing food into the trunks of our community members during pickup, rather than having them enter The Pantry

Precautions for those picking up food

  • Have your ID, documentation, and application with you and ready to show
  • When you arrive, stay inside your vehicle
  • Follow the attendant’s instructions once it’s your turn to pick up

Precautions for volunteers

  • Be sure to use a handwashing or hand sanitizing station when you enter and leave The Pantry
  • Practice social distancing when on-site at The Pantry
  • If you’ve traveled to hot-zones 14 days or less prior to volunteering, please stay home and do not enter The Pantry (as defined by PA State Dept. of Health)

Precautions for those donating food

  • While we appreciate your donation, we ask that you do not come into The Pantry
  • Please leave your food donation in the designated area/dropbox outside of our main entrance
  • Practice social distancing when on-site at The Pantry
  • If you’ve traveled to hot-zones 14 days or less prior to dropping off, please withhold your donation (as defined by PA State Dept of Health)
